who we are

ATHLETICSITE.COM was started in July of 2004 as a total website solutions provider for colleges and universities. It is the athletic community-serving division of Major Program, a website design/hosting firm founded in 2002. Major Program serves the needs of individuals, churches, for-profit ventures and non-profit organizations.

The vision for ATHLETICSITE.COM is large in scope: our goal is to become the provider of choice of total website solutions for NCAA Division II institutions. We will also actively pursue partners at the Division III level, and in the NAIA, NCCAA, or independent institutions. Smaller Division I schools should find ATHLETICSITE.COM as an attractive option, both for its quality and price.

Though the vision is grand, the focus is tight. Every partner, every website we build, and every decision that we make will take us a step closer to or farther from that goal. With that in mind, it is with great diligence that we work to satisfy each customer and to give each client the best website we can make according to the client's wishes.

My name is Scott McCain, and I am the founder of Major Program and ATHLETICSITE.COM. I've been involved in education for 12 years, five of those in collegiate athletics where I've experienced the struggles and successes that come with the job.

My involvement with sports information departments on the college level has equipped me to custom-build sites from a sports information director's perspective. Feedback from peers has molded the product more, and soon the ATHLETICSITE.COM project will be complete at its current level. However, the ultimate end of my work will come when the family of sites are industry-leading wonders of technology, second to none.

about the owner

I'm Scott McCain, a 35-year-old husband and father of one. I am a lifelong South Carolina resident who resides in the Charleston area. A mostly-self-taught programmer, I completed high school at 16 and college at 20. I taught high school mathematics for eight years, coaching basketball six of those years. In my fourth year of teaching, I began designing websites at the admonition of a friend. At the age of 29, I began a career in college athletics and sports information at Charleston Southern University. I served as sports information director and assistant director of athletics at Newberry College for nearly three years before moving back to Charleston. During my time at Newberry, I launched my business part-time, and made ATHLETICSITE.COM my single focus after moving back to Charleston.

This business is third place in my life behind my God and my family. I'm active in my church, singing in the choir and assisting with the teen group. I still have the opportunity to enjoy sports firsthand as an assistant basketball coach and volleyball official, in addition to lending a hand to the three colleges in the area when needed. I hold membership in American Mensa and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
